Jill Malek’s range of wallcoverings and rugs are inspired by frequencies found in nature and urban landscapes. After living across the street from a pigeon fancier in Brooklyn over a decade ago, Jill became obsessed with how the birds’ movements would create beautiful expressions in the sky, when she watched from her rooftop. These types of movements became a blueprint for every piece she would later create. With a passion for materials, design precision and building meaningful relationship with collaborators, Jill provides exclusive, custom design packages for interior designers and architects—and brings the poetic story of the “birds in flux” to every working project.

Jill Malek opened her studio after art directing for the Westin brand at Starwood Hotels and Resorts in 2008. Since then, her work has appeared in many high-profile global interiors, including 50 floors of the east and west corridors at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, (in addition to the new upscale RED PLATE Restaurant), the Google and Youtube flagship offices in Los Angeles, the Ritz Carlton Boston’s Restaurant & Lounge, ballroom, bathrooms and guest suites, Holt Renfrew Toronto, Victoria Secret dressing rooms Worldwide, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue (New York and Hawaii), Westin Ballrooms Worldwide, Bliss Spas, Bloomingdales, The Avalon Brooklyn, Harvey Nichols Dubai, The Blue Apron Flagship Office in Austin, and the Yellow Magnolia Café within The Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

In 2012, seven of her patterns were acquired from The Brooklyn Museum as part of their decorative arts collection. In 2013, after recognizing a void in the children’s wallcovering market, she merged forces with famed children’s decorators, Sissy + Marley, to create MARLEY+MALEK KIDS, which boasts four collections of sophisticated patterns for childrens’ spaces. In 2014, Jill Malek, along with SISSY+MARLEY, were recipients of the coveted ICFF EDITORS AWARD in the Wallcovering category.

In 2018, Jill Malek and Visual Magnetics were NYCXDESIGN honorees for their collaborative collection of magnetic wallcoverings for workspaces in the Contract Wallcovering category. That same year, the Natural Dimensions Collection (in collaboration with Daniel Tillman from C3 Design) was a BEST OF YEAR finalist in the Contract Wallcovering category, hosted by Interior Design Magazine. Most recently, The Jill Malek x Visual Magnetics FORCES wallcovering for workspaces collection received a 2019 German Design Award. Jill Malek was also a design finalist for an AZ Award through Azure Magazine, and received an award from IFDA for Best Wallcoverings at ICFF 2019.
